One humble request to download:

Make at least one random act of kindness/love today. Hug someone close and tell them how much you love them! Human, animal or tree - doesn't matter!

Hugs we've given so far: 78330

Time to give back a bit! Do you want to write about something you love and show it in a magazine-type of way? Here is a theme for you. Inspired by the beautiful Listverse.

The way sidebars are treated for phones and tablets is pretty unique. Resize your browser window’s width on the live demo to see how it works, or use CTRL+scrollwheel to zoom in and see high resolution in action!

The theme is GPLv3-licensed.

You can support my work here – any amount is always appreciated.

Note: The version of Hueman available on wordpress.org is a “lite” version, and does not include sharing buttons, tracking code field, basic shortcodes and some other things as it is seen as plugin territory.

Now, let’s see some of the features included…

100% High resolution

Awesome sharpness on retina screens and other high resolution devices. No compromise anywhere.

Extensive styling options

Unlimited primary and secondary accent colors. Change topbar, header, footer and body background in seconds.

Ultra responsive

This theme will scale down beautifully from a full hd resolution down to a low resolution mobile phone.

Flexible layout options

Set 0-2 sidebars to the left, right or one on each side. Every page, post and also standard WP sections can be unique.

Toggle fixed-width sidebars

The primary sidebar is always kept at a neat 300px. The secondary is 220px. Both are always rendered after the content in the code, no matter layout.

0-4 Footer widget columns

Use anything from no footer widgets all the way up to 4 columns. A personal favourite is 3 columns for good space on all devices.

Almost zero images

With Font Awesome, CSS and a modern flat look this theme manages to load only 1-3 images total for the whole layout, depending on layout choice.

Integrated share counts

Sharrre is inlcuded which gives you high-res share buttons and counts for each article. Not a fan of social media? Just disable them.

Set the website max-width

You choose how wide you want your website to be via the admin panel. With a neat numeric slider, it’s one click away. 1024px > 1600px.

Related posts & post nav

Motivate your readers to explore more articles on your website with related posts and links to previous and next article.

Unlimited widget areas

There is no limit to how many widget sidebars you can create. Each widget area can be assigned to a unique page, post or standard WP sections.

Featured story or slider

Show your most recent post in large size on the frontpage, or select a featured category to pick stories from. 0-10 featured articles can be shown.

Post formats

Easily show video, audio, image, gallery slider, status messages, links and more. All 10 formats supported.

Social links

Easily add your own social links to your header and footer. Use any of 370 icons. Set a unique color for each if you want.

Font selection

Choose from a list of some good-looking fonts supplied via Google Fonts. Latin Extended and Cyrillic options included.

Boxed layout

Want a boxed layout style instead of full-width? It’s one click away in the styling options.

    There we go!

Update: With v1.0.6, the theme has been thoroughly reviewed by wordpress.org and approved (thanks Zulfikar Nore!).

Guys, please don’t use the comments section as a support forum. Use the wordpress.org forums for that. Thanks!

    • You are most welcome Alex.

But dude, you’ve done a marvelous job with the theme – I’m totally blown away :)

Can’t wait for your next theme and hope you keep on giving back to the community for a long time to come. Believe you me, if they are all this good – we’ll keep on taking them :)

On a side note: People this theme is now featured on WordPress.org – show your appreciations by a) downloading from there to help the theme get in the top most popular section and b) do consider give it 5 rating and leaving your review :)

      best wishes,
      Zulf

Awesome theme – now to build the website I always wanted – hard to believe this is free – imagine what the paid for ones would look like. Great work and thank you for sharing!

    • PNRao says:

    • diyet says:

Really brother, you did a fantastic job by creating this theme. I’m using this Hueman theme in my blog, and feel like it is even better than paid themes. Waiting anxiously for your next theme :) kudos ;)

Looks sweet– I might use it for one design..!

  3. Ted Esposito says:

Thanks so much for this! Very clean, very helpful!

  4. Kalee says:

That’s a fantastic job. I always meant to get around to making a nice starter theme based on the Gantry framework, but never have the time, and now I don’t have to. :)

  5. skribe says:

Great job, mate. In the styles on the demo site you’re using pullquotes. Are they part of the theme or a plugin?

  6. Patrik says:

I will definitely spread some love. Thanks!

  7. skribe says:

Thanks for your earlier help, mate. How do you set the featured image for a video post? Does it do it automagically or is it necessary to upload a separate image?

    • Alexander says:

Separate image needed indeed – so it works the same way as with all the other featured images. If it is a YT video, you can inspect the source code of the video page and find the high quality thumbnail direct link. Look for: property=”og:image” content=”Link here…” Around line ~22.

Edit: For those who wish to show embeds directly instead of thumbnails, here is the modification required.

      • skribe says:

        Thank you once again.

      • Joe says:

I’m having the same issue, and I can’t get it to work.I changed the content.php in both the hueman theme, content.php and under the functions folder, as well as the featured-content.php. All from the link you provided. Do you think you could email me to help me get your beautiful theme working?

        Thank you!

    Great Design indeed..Loving it

  9. Tom Crandall says:

Hey Alex. Great looking template. I think I am going to give it a try. I do lots of Reviews for Fitness companies and I was trying to figure out a way to spice it up.

There is another website that does product reviews called DC Rainmaker and I took a look at his and thought my current template (Spout) was lacking for what I want to showcase.

I am trying to get people more actively involved with the website and your new template might be just the ticket.

    Cheers

  10. Tom Crandall says:

The Theme was really easy to use.

I have one question. Is there any way to increase the font size or make the menus more bold?

  11. GIZIPP says:

This theme was really great! And FREE! That’s a fantastic job. Thx Alex! (we’re same age, and you really awesome for web designing)

Anyway, could you tell me how to change the sidebar width into 300px? What I mean is, I want to adding 300×250 Google Adsense in sidebar. What about Google Ads Ready feature for the next release?

    • Alexander says:

Thanks! A good age, isn’t it? I was just about to reply to you and say that the primary sidebar is 300px, but when I double-checked I see it is 280 and 200, not 300 and 220 as intended. Not sure how and when I managed to mess that up in the process. Will have to sort that out.

Edit: Styling option added, download v1.1.0.

  12. Arun Nath says:

    Hi,

First of all thank you for this awesome theme. Well, my site is rich with images, but the thumbnails are not working (I don’t know how to embed). Have installed the “Reg.Thumbnails”, but don’t know the next step. Please do help.

    • Alexander says:

Hi – in the tools menu, make sure that you run the Regen. Thumbnails once, in order for it to create the new thumbnails.

If they do not show up on the site, make sure that they are set as featured images. If they do not appear at the top of the article, make sure you choose Image Format post on the right side.

      • Luis says:

        Hi.

Thanks so much, Now i have the theme i was looking for.

My problem is that i post a video, but i cant see it like a Thumbnails. Like the Demo of your blog, you have video and if I play i cann´t watch it. i Have to get in to the Entry to watch it!!

        Thanks again for all!!

  13. Franko says:

    Awesome theme! Congrats.

One question: How can I insert a header image instead of logo (or just make the logo bigger) and use the blog name?

  14. Paul says:

Depite looking at a lot of paid for themes, i’m going to go with Hueman. It looks great and really responsive. Sincere thanks (and hugs) for your work

  15. Jack says:

    Hey Alexendar,

Awesome theme! I’m definitely going to be using it for an upcoming project. Unfortunately, when I update the colors from the Styling options, the admin panel shows the colors as updated, but the colors on the website don’t actually change!

    • Alexander says:

Hey Jack! If you check the help dropdown top right in Theme Options, it says: Edit: Styling options no longer need chmod permission change, removed outdated info.

      • Jack says:

        Alex,

Thanks for the incredibly fast reply! That was it. I sometimes don’t notice those dropdowns, they’re pretty small, they can get lost sometimes!

  16. Gerhard says:

I have found the slider. There is no auto option for the slider ?

  17. José says:

    Thanks for this great theme.

How do I add social share buttons on posts, like is show on live demo.

    Best Regards
    José

    • Alexander says:

You need to download the theme from here to get the social share buttons, shortcodes and tracking code field. The wordpress.org release is a “lite” version – more details about it in the description.

      • Dee says:

        Hi Alex,
Just downloaded your theme after searching through premium themes for literally 3 days. It was a sight for sore eyes. :) However, I’m having some trouble getting it up and running.

The social sharing buttons aren’t showing up for some reason. The only thing I see is the word “SHARE” where the buttons should be. The Featured posts slider isn’t showing up as well.

        Any reason this is happening?

        • Alexander says:

My guess would be that you have some web browser plugin that disables social network buttons / cookie tracking.

          • Antonio Valentini says:

I have the same problem in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.

          • sweta says:

On my website travelotrips.com social share button is not appearing. It was visible initially and suddenly disappeared.

  18. Kushal Jain says:

I just downloaded this. Wow! Just Wow! Wonder how you’re giving it away for free.. :)

  19. Paul says:

Just trying things out at http://www.theprojecttoolbox.com/blog/

Can anybody suggest why i’m having display problems? The video blog stormboard doesn’t diplay a thumbnail and Hello world refuses to show my ugly mug when opened.

    • Alexander says:

For the Hello World post, set it to “Image” post format, and the image will appear at the top of the article. As for the video, it doesn’t grab thumbnails automatically. You need to set it just as with the other posts.

Check out my reply to skribe for more info about that.

  20. Holger says:

Hi Alex! Is your theme compatible with WPML (WordPress Multilingual Plugin)?
    http://wpml.org/

    Kind regards, Holger
    Btw … Great job!

  21. Alex says:

Hi, is it possible to have the site logo full width and not to be limited to 60/120px of height?

    The theme is great anyway

  22. Paul says:

It’s late in the day and I may be missing something, but yes i only seem to be able to leave a reply. No way of posting a new comment.
